The kids completed swimming lessons. Rachel and Tye moved up a level, Haley quit half way through (not sure why) and Kaden didn't quite grasp it all this time around. I should sign them up again, but the thought of having to be tied down to it doesn't appeal to me one bit. We've also gone swimming once a week so far this month.... that's a miracle in and of itself in my book. That was my goal this summer, to take the kids to the pool more.
Tye played T-ball. Most of his little buddies were on his team so it was great fun for him.
Can't be June without Pleasant Grove City Strawberry Days. Going to the carnival is a must... for the kids not me! But who doesn't love the strawberries and cream and all the other junk food you find there?! No rodeo for us this year. Maybe next year.
Of course, there was Father's Day squeezed in there somewhere. I didn't get a picture of Nate with his ragamuffins, but I did get this picture of Eliza with her uncle P.J. giving her her first taste of sugar! Yum! She definitely liked it.
We do love sugar around here, but we all came home from the dentist cavity free!! Hip, hip, hooray!
I was running errands and when I returned Eliza was helping cook dinner. Yikes! (Don't worry, she was safe and that won't happen again either!)
Eliza turned 6 months old on June 22. She weighed 15 lbs. 5 oz. (36th percentile) and is 25 1/4 inches (31st percentile). Hard to believe. Look at that face. You can't help but smile can you?!
I talked Nate into going to the Crane Reunion in Bennington, Idaho. After the accident I had figured it wasn't going to be a possibility, but he felt good enough to go so we did. I always enjoy going. There's something about that place that makes me feel happy and warm inside... if that makes sense. So many good childhood memories of visiting my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I just love it. The kids had fun seeing the sheep, hiking around the camp and playing in the creek. Tye fell face first into it at one point and wasn't too happy about it! Aunt Wilma made cute little horses for the kids to "ride" on a fun educational hike. They were all very attentive. It was cute to watch. We only came home with one wood tick!! As far as I know of anyway. Luckily for everyone else it was on ME! We got home just before 1:00 a.m. so there was no time (nor energy!) for baths right then. I quickly checked the kids to make sure they were tick-free, put them in pajamas then into bed. I thought I checked myself pretty good, but not good enough... I slept with the little monster all night! Around 8:00 a.m. I woke up to something bugging my arm at the elbow bend. When I scratched it away it caught under my fingernail enough that it startled me, but I couldn't see anything anywhere and I wasn't thinking tick at all. Then I felt it crawling up my arm again. That's when I screamed and flicked it into the sheets and about gave Nate a heart attack! Gross, gross, gross!!! I had the creepy crawlies for a couple days after that. Don't worry I thoroughly checked and bathed everyone soon after the disgusting discovery.
Eliza can sit up by herself! It doesn't last long, but she can do it (June 27). She can also roll over every which way since mid-June. It's so fun to see her learn and grow!
Just another day at the Bishop home with Captain Underpants! We wanted to say thank you and meet the guys who responded to Nate's accident scene so we scheduled an appointment the morning of June 28th. That crew had just gotten off their 48 hour shift at 7:30 a.m., but 4 of the 6 came back to meet us. They are some great men. They were obviously happy to see Nate looking a lot better than he did the morning of May 29th! When the accident happened the fire department was having their annual Fireman's Breakfast. I guess he kind of ruined it for the 6 who came to the scene, but probably created some excitement for the people there. I'm sure it's not the first time they've gotten a call during the festivity over the years anyway. The kids got a tour of the station while Nate and I talked to them. It was interesting to get their point of view since Nate doesn't remember any of it. Although I didn't like finding out he was alert, but confused crawling around on his hands and knees bleeding all over when they arrived. I would have preferred him just lying there with someone comforting him or something. And why in the heck wasn't someone doing just that?? There was a cop there before them and the driver of the truck who pulled out in front of him and at least one witness. It really bugs me. But on a lighter note they said he kept saying his humerus hurt. Makes me laugh because he didn't hurt his arm at all and why in the heck would he pull that word out of his memory bank?! He didn't even know today where that bone is in his body. He was full of humor in the E.R. so maybe he did aggravate his "humorous" a little! Ha, ha! Okay, I'm done with the jokes. Anyway, it was a great experience to meet the paramedics and firemen and we truly appreciate their service to us and to our community.
So other than everything I wrote about we have been busy with doctor, dentist and orthodontist appointments for Nate. We are not wanting this whole accident to consume us, but it kind of has and you kind of can't stop it or help it. So excuse us if you are tired of hearing about it or whatever. The very biggest thing that really eats at Nate is the time lost by having to be at a million appointments, but that's life for us right now so we go on and move forward. Hopefully July will be a fun month with a bit of normalcy. :) Thanks to all of you who have visited, brought in meals, helped watch kids and everything else. Thank you! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your month of June! You are an amazing mom, Jilleen. How do you do it? You have some of the cutest kids ever, even cpt. underpants. Eliza is at such a cute age. I am sad I always miss the reunion. It looks like it was a success. As for the ticks...YUCK!!!!! I am so glad Nate had some great men come to his aid. There is so much to be thankful for and I think it is so cool that you went to meet them. I am sure things like that make their jobs worth it!
I don't think anyone is sick of hearing about the accident! Don't worry. Looks like you guys had quite a bit of normalcy already in June, but it probably doesn't feel like it to you.
I feel like such a loser for not comning over to visit since Nate left the hospital. Here I sit all day with my cute little baby and I could totally come but haven't. Then again, I may be flattering myself thinking you guys would even want me to come over. :) Ha! Anyway, I'm glad Nate is doing so well. You guys have been so amazing through this whole experience.
I am so glad you have updated. I love all the cute pictures of Eliza, captain underpants, and the Crane reunion. I am sad we missed it yet again another year. Maybe next year will be our year to go.
