We are heading home today!!! We had a nice meeting with the ENT and trauma doctors. They showed Nate his broken face scans. Holy smokes! He really did a number on his face. It still amazes me how well they put him back together. Nate asked if they took pictures during surgery that he could see, but they hadn't. I did cry to the docs... they put my husband back together again and I will always owe that to them. Nate jokingly offered to buy Dr. Riddle dinner and the other doc said it's okay because we just paid for Dr. Riddle's child to go to college! They will take the trach out in an hour or so. So it will be a few hours until he will be all cleared to get out of here, but we are so happy! We'll keep you posted.
Update: The respiratory team came quickly and took out the trach. Nate got dressed and they let us head home.... happened more quickly than I thought it all would. :)
We did a LOT of this the last 5 days! What a blessing to be by Nate's side helping him heal.
Nate's favorite nurse, Sarah. She was awesome. She really cared and did a fantastic job taking care of Nate.
