fall's arrival

So autumn decided to roll in.... in the form of winter it seemed! We had to pull out the winter coats, gloves, and hats for a couple days. But if you look closely you'll see one wearing flip flops still and another in bare feet. I guess we can't give up summer completely. I love how kids don't think it's as cold as it really is. I was out for about 15-20 minutes and called it quits.... I just couldn't hack it!
Nate had Haley and Tye in the back of his truck handing him tools to put away. I guess it beats climbing in there yourself all hunched over with the shell and hitting your head or scraping your back (which I tend to do every time). I'm lucky he didn't shove me in there!! Maybe that's why I decided to go in the house.... I didn't want to risk getting that job!

oh so naughty

All dressed for church....

Not so much anymore!

(Serves me right for not giving them baths Saturday night, I suppose.)

because i'm bored

When I see all my kids playing together and no one is crying.... pure joy!

When I snap a shot of my dear husband and he subliminally flips me off..... nothing pure about that! (Oh, he admitted that that's what he was thinking. He's just nice enough to not "really" do it! He hates getting his picture taken and I know that.... why do you think I did it???) AND I can't leave out his shirt. Check. It. Out. So below the cartoon character it says $B-Money$. Some guy came door-to-door selling these shirts of himself while Nate was working on a house in Provo. He just HAD to buy one. The question is.... did he just want to help the poor guy out OR did he fall in love with the shirt??? We may never know! Peace out! (Sorry, just had to say it.)

While all the world is harvesting their gardens and canning salsa, peaches, tomatoes, and so on, we decide to harvest sunflower seeds. It makes me laugh to think I didn't can a darn thing, but hey, I've got sunflower seeds so we're good! The kids actually had fun helping their dad get all the seeds out of the sunflower. (I purposely avoided that part.) Then we baked them the next day and no one has cared about them since! I've snacked on them a few times, but mostly to keep myself away from the chocolate and candy that I can't seem to go a few hours without! I need help!! But oh how a Snickers shake sounds right now.... mmmmm.... I'm going to gain 50 pounds this pregnancy or maybe even this trimester!

Being lazy and buying pizza for dinner and sending the kids outside to eat it..... priceless!

11 years and counting

{then}

So here it is, another year gone by. Today Nate and I celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary! Time flies when you're having fun!! In someways it seems more like 20 years and yet wasn't it just yesterday I was riding in the backseat of my parents' car throwing up on the way to the Salt Lake Temple? Ha! Yes, true story. It was when the freeway was under major reconstruction. It was like riding in a luge. I was soooo excited... like Christmas morning when you're a kid excited, only multiplied by a thousand! I got carsick and had to grab the floor mat and funnel it away from me and my wedding dress I had laying across my lap. My poor dad had the fun job of cleaning it up while I got ready. I still feel bad about that! Things could only get better from there, and they did! 4 (and 1/2) kids later here we are in more love than we were 11 years ago. I am so blessed to have Nate in my life. He is truly my best friend. Happy anniversary, Nate! I love you!!

{now}
Older and hopefully WISER!

family pictures {2009}

Oh boy! First of all, THANK YOU to my sister-in-law, Jess who sacrificed her time a few weeks ago to take our pictures. She does such and amazing job. My children were so naughty that this is the only family picture that kind of works. Not to mention me and Nate being sidetracked every two seconds by someone. Kaden was the hardest that evening. You would think a 6 year old would have more self control than a 2 year old..... not the case that day! All the lecturing and bribing in the world couldn't get everyone to cooperate at the same time. Oh well. That's life and I won't lose sleep over it. We'll be adding another little one in a few months, so we'll have another shot at this anyway!

I needed individual portraits so very badly and we accomplished that. (See pics to the right.) And we ended up with a lot of candid shots that I actually LOVE. (See header, too.) So all in all it was a success.

Soccer

Kaden and soccer-- sadly, they just don't go together. Kind of like orange juice and chocolate cake! (Nate loves those two things together so I thought it fitting to make it public that they DO NOT go together!!) Anyway, Kaden would pretend to like playing the first half and even try to kick the ball now and then....
Go Kaden!

But after half time, he was done! He would start goofing off with his teammates instead. I would encourage him to get out there and help his team, but it was pretty much a waste of breath. Oh well. We tried. (I can't blame him too much though. It was always HOT. Who wants to be running around in 90 degree weather?!)
I have to laugh too, because after probably his second game he said he didn't want to play anymore. I told him he couldn't quit because HE signed up for it. His comeback was, "No, mom! YOU signed me up, not me!" I guess he got me there. I'm the one with he credit card! Although, in my defense he did say he wanted to play and I got the go ahead from him to sign him up. His last game is this Saturday and I'm sure he's thrilled! It's fine that soccer is not his "thing". We'll just take it slow and let him decided on his own what he really loves.

preschool days

Tye started preschool September 2nd. He couldn't wait! He goes in the afternoon three days a week with a couple other boys in our neighborhood. It is a little bit like torture to him to wait until 12:30 to go, but once he's there he's in heaven! He LOVES it!

I totally forgot to take him to the open house his teacher had the week before they started school. So I had to give him a crash course of where to put his stuff and find his desk that morning when I dropped him off. Whoops! Someday I might remember everything I should.... maybe.... okay fine, probably not.

elastigirl

Haley came up to me and said, "cute, cute" but all I saw was a purple hand and 25 elastics around her wrist!
