We decided spur-of-the-moment to sleep in our backyard last night. Since Rachel started school last Monday and Kaden starts kindergarten this coming Monday we thought it would be a fun way to end the summer. We haven't done any real camping this whole year, which is the first year since Nate and I have been married that we haven't... so sad, I know! I'm not a big camper. Two nights max. for me (in a trailer, please!!), but I feel like I've deprived my children of fun camping memories! Hopefully they had fun just sleeping under the stars and being together as a family. I know I loved it. They had the cutest little questions about stars and planets, oh- and aliens on Mars. Haley slept inside in her crib. We had the monitor on out by us so we could hear her if she needed us. She woke up crying at 1:45 a.m. so I went in and settled her back down and didn't bother going back outside... my bed was calling my name, "Jillllleeeeeennnnnn!" I couldn't hurt its feelings!! I was awakened at 7:00 a.m. sharp by a phone call from some cute little voices saying "Wake up, mom!" I have been getting a hard time from Nate (mostly because sleeping outside was my idea), but all the ridicule in the world doesn't change the fact that I actually got some good sleep (that air mattress just doesn't cut it) last night in my warm, cozy bed!!

You are such a party pooper. Actually I probably would have done the same thing. I am glad the kids enjoyed it though.
You can't just leave your bed when it is calling for you. I think you made the right choice. How fun for your kids. I am sure they will still remember this even if they aren't in the mountains :)
Your lucky to have a bed that can talk:), besides your bed was probably feeling left out - I agree you can't have that happen. I like your idea of camping in the back yard, you don't have to pack as much!!! And it looks like your kids Loved it!!
