A penny for your thoughts.... or maybe a dime!

Oh my heck!! This story is so sad, but all is well. So here it goes...

Haley started to get really whiny and wouldn't eat anything yesterday afternoon. I thought she must be getting more teeth or something. Then later I decided she must have a very sore throat because she would just scream when she tried to drink her bottle. Her binki wouldn't even calm her down. I gave her some ibuprofen (which drooled mostly out of her mouth and now I know why) and put her to bed. She woke up an hour later crying so I rocked her and she fell back asleep. (She hates to snuggle so when she let me rock her I was in HEAVEN!) She slept until 5:30ish this morning, but woke up with the same sad cries. I made her a bottle and she drank it, but was very cranky and never really went back to sleep. When I was finally getting her dressed for the day I had her lay down on her bedroom floor to change her and as she was protesting (with her lungs) I caught a glimps of something on the roof of her mouth. WHAT?!! A freakin' 1995 dime was stuck to the roof of her mouth since yesterday afternoon! I about had a heart attack. All the "what if's" went through my head and I felt so horribly bad (and still do) for not noticing it earlier. The poor girl couldn't suck on anything and of course wouldn't want to eat anything because there's already something in there getting in the way! I realize now why she was shoving her all her banana slices in her mouth yesterday. She never does that. I think she was frustrated at how her mouth wasn't working right so if she shoved them all in that might solve all her problems. It didn't and she spit them all out, but now she's happy as a clam eating bananas (and actually swallowing them)-- On second thought, I guess that makes her happy as a monkey!!

Picture Tag

I was tagged by my sister-in-law. This one is actually kind of funny, at least it was to me as I was reading hers and making mine. Here's how it works: For each question, look up the answer on Google image search. Then choose your favorite image from the FIRST PAGE OF RESULTS ONLY. So-- Enjoy getting to know me better...

Peace and Quiet

Wow! Did I ever get some peace and quiet today! Maybe too quiet... Nah!! But not for long... kids get out of school right now. Gotta go pick them up.

And.... He's Off!

Kaden's first day of kindergarten was today. I can't believe it! He picked out his outfit and was dressed by 7:30 this morning. Although, school doesn't start until 12:33 p.m. (what's up with that?!) he managed to stay relatively clean. He was excited to go, but didn't show much emotion [he must be all boy]! He is a sweet-as-pie, mellow kid and will do great in kindergarten!

Look at all those parents!!

"Bye, Mom!"

There he goes... *sniff, sniff*

Autumn

Autumn arrives in the early morning, but spring at the close of a winter day.
--Elizabeth Bowen

Rachel & Tye (2007)

I love welcoming in a new season. Although, autumn isn't technically here yet, whenever school starts it seems to mark the beginning of it. I love all four seasons for many different reasons. I am definitely guilty of appreciating some more than others, but I welcome the change they bring. Each season has its own beauty and where it lacks makes you appreciate the others.

One Last Hurrah!

We decided spur-of-the-moment to sleep in our backyard last night. Since Rachel started school last Monday and Kaden starts kindergarten this coming Monday we thought it would be a fun way to end the summer. We haven't done any real camping this whole year, which is the first year since Nate and I have been married that we haven't... so sad, I know! I'm not a big camper. Two nights max. for me (in a trailer, please!!), but I feel like I've deprived my children of fun camping memories! Hopefully they had fun just sleeping under the stars and being together as a family. I know I loved it. They had the cutest little questions about stars and planets, oh- and aliens on Mars. Haley slept inside in her crib. We had the monitor on out by us so we could hear her if she needed us. She woke up crying at 1:45 a.m. so I went in and settled her back down and didn't bother going back outside... my bed was calling my name, "Jillllleeeeeennnnnn!" I couldn't hurt its feelings!! I was awakened at 7:00 a.m. sharp by a phone call from some cute little voices saying "Wake up, mom!" I have been getting a hard time from Nate (mostly because sleeping outside was my idea), but all the ridicule in the world doesn't change the fact that I actually got some good sleep (that air mattress just doesn't cut it) last night in my warm, cozy bed!!

1st Grade

Rachel survived her first day of 1st grade today!! Yahoo! She just gave me a hug and kiss and went off to her class. It was such a relief that she was so brave. Lately she's been clingy and refusing to play with friends so I thought today would end up being a crazy day, but it was great. I got a little teary eyed walking away from the school... It's hard letting your children go off into the real world. When I picked her up at school she said, "Ohhh, that was long!" I informed her that today was "early out" and tomorrow will be an hour longer. She groaned a little, but said she had a really fun day. Yes!! That's what I like to hear!

Lake Ride

I love, love, love going on rides with Nate on his Harley. It is so amazing how much of this beautiful world you see and to me is so refreshing!! We ended up riding around Utah Lake yesterday. So, I know the west side of the lake isn't the most beautiful, but looking out across the lake and seeing the towering mountains and just the beauty of the valley was very rejuvenating to me. Even the deserty west side has a beauty of it's own. I love where I live and feel so very blessed. Our next (planned) ride will be the Alpine Loop with the fall leaves... can't wait!! (Oh, and for those of you who worry, we wore our helmets!)

Perhaps Another Day

I try to do my part, even though I may get laughed at. (Oh yes, some people are cruel!! You know who you are.) I turn the lights off when I exit a room. I try not to waste water. I even save magazines, newspaper, etc. to recycle, BUT what good is all of that if the love of my life doesn't give a hoot about it??? I admit, I let our recycle box fill up and up and never take it to the dumpster (I always plan to... soon) , but today my sweet husband, being the kind, helpful man he is was going to take all those magazines and newspapers to the recycle bin for me. Ah, how sweet, right? Wrong... they ended up in our stinky garbage can!! Now my contribution to the "green" world will have to wait for another day!
