Leprechaun, Leprechaun Where Have You Gone?

I colored our milk green this morning and made sure my kids wore at least a green shirt, but am I really suppose to put on a big show for St. Patty's Day? Aren't Santa, the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny enough?? Apparently not.....

Kaden came straight home from school looking all through the house for leprechaun foot prints and gold coins! A friend at school told him all about the leprechaun who came to his house and left just that. I felt so bad knowing he wouldn't find a darn thing. I just told him I didn't think leprechauns came to everyone's house. He didn't seem too upset about it and went to play with friends. I thought I was out of the woods until I tucked him in tonight and he said, "Mom, leprechauns can come on any day, not just St. Patrick's Day." Goodness! What am I to do? Let it pass or give in to his deep desire to have a leprechaun visit in the night?

I'm with you...I like to make holiday's special with tradition but there is no need to go overboard! We don't even do easter baskets....

Our kids know that leprechauns are super naughty and don't leave treats. They did visit our house but all they did was turn the furniture upside down and dye the toilet water green! They don't just go walking around handing out gold! You have to catch those suckers!

I guess we need to create a St. Pat's day tradition. We are such slackers. My neighbor did a treasure hunt and invited all the kids in neighborhood. Luke was the only one who got in on it. The girls were at dance and some were sick. Maybe next year I will remember to do something fun.

Oh boy! Um.....Don't know how to help you with that one! I admit, I am overwhelmed just trying to keep up with pretenses with all the hooplah with the other holidays.

Mayby Mr. Leprechaun can write him and note and put it under his pillow or near his bed...

Good luck!!

Just this year I had to let Sheridan know that leprechauns are not real. She was still into it. And very disapointed that in 3rd grade Patrick didnt come do anything naughty in her class room. I decided she was old enough to realize it was all pretend. They make a really big deal about it in preschool. And that is fun, but by 8 yrs old. You should know the truth:)
