This-n-That

Had to laugh at this sleeping position. Too funny!

When Rachel and Kaden get a hold of the camera.....

The kids had fun with Nate and their friends in the snow. I thought they were going to build a snowman, but a bonfire showed up instead. Frosty wouldn't have liked it anyway!

This is what happens when you are trying to hurry out the door to church and the heels on your boots hook the carpet at the top of the stairs. What goes up must come down! All Nate heard was... clunk, clunk, clunk, thud! My pride was sufficiently hurt! They have scabbed over nicely now. It's been a long time since I last skinned my knees. I have more empathy for my kids again.

Bedtime entertainment at it's best! Who says little sisters are a drag?! Giddy-up!

One Month and Counting

Well, we've survived the first month! It's funny how fast it goes especially when some days... and let's not forget nights.... seem like they'll never end. But they do and then before you know it you realize that you haven't turned into a zombie (you're close, but you're still mostly human). The house may be in disarray. You may still be in your pajamas when the kids get home from school. Breakfast for dinner may be the on the menu everyday of the week... again. But life is good!

Eliza is actually a pretty good baby. Her fussy time starts around 10:00 p.m. and goes on and off for two or three hours... just when you think you can catch some shut eye, she starts up again! Once she settles down she wakes to eat about every 3 hours (sometimes 4 if I'm lucky) then goes right back to sleep so that's nice. She's a good little eater and luckily doesn't have any major digestive issues like Tye or Haley had. I think she's somewhere in the 8 pound range... not sure exactly. She's certainly growing. Haley still loves her and has to go find her first thing every morning, but she doesn't try to pick her up as much anymore so that has been nice. Rachel has really been a super helper when I don't have enough hands to hold the baby and do everything else. I don't know what I'd do without her. The boys are so sweet to her and Nate.... awww, he takes the fussy shift when he's in-town and the middle-of-the-night shift with the rest of the kids (if they need something.... usually they sleep through the night though). So things are going just fine. It really is such a joy and blessing to have her in our family.

How Naughty Can One Child Be?

(It's OK Scott.... I don't blame you.... I blame her gravitational pull to ink!)

Return Address

Well, at least if she gets lost whoever finds her will know where to send her.... Priority mail please!

Surprise, Surprise

There was a knock at my door this afternoon and I received these....

And the card said this...
I RARELY get any flower surprises and these came on the perfect day! I was really missing Nate since he's in Washington D.C. and feeling kinda blue. I needed a little "pick-me-up" and that's just what they did! I had a smile the rest of the day. Thanks Nate! I love you!

Lost and Lost Again

Kaden lost his 5th tooth the other night while we were hanging out at our friend's house. It didn't make it home with us, unfortunately. After completely forgetting about it the first night the second night Kaden wrote a note for the Tooth Fairy....
Aren't kids the greatest? I love it! The Tooth Fairy delivered that night. She must have believed him!

"Sir, what's this?"

Nate was packing for one of his business trips and discovered a few stowaways in his bag. Of course, we thought it was pretty cute, but then I started giggling and had a hard time stopping. I had remembered a time a couple years ago when Nate was going through security at the airport and the security guard said something like this, "What's this?" Nate said, "What's what?" He was totally clueless. The guard holds up a little tiny bottle of........ vanilla extract! Nate was still clueless as to what it was and thought maybe someone put it in his backpack as a joke, but then he remembers.... We were going to a friend's house and I was going to make popcorn balls there so he loaded up all the ingredients into his backpack. Apparently we never unloaded everything! Why not just use a grocery sack? I don't know! Anyway, so the guard just says, "It's okay. You just have to claim it." As if he really was trying to sneak vanilla extract onto the plane. Maybe he was secretly desperate for some alcohol?!! Oh how I laughed and laughed when he told me that story! Oh how I still laugh and laugh when I think of that story!!! It never was or has been quite as funny to Nate as it has been to the rest of us.... or maybe just to me.... it's funny to me! Cheers!

New Year, New Title

I have decided that every year my blog will have a new title. Mostly to give variety and when I make it into a book there will be some different titles instead of the same old thing year after year. Here's to a great year!
